Kateri Park Apartments

Building shell renovation of affordable family housing

Kateri Park Apartments comprises four existing wood frame buildings built in 2007 by a prior team, which quickly developed significant construction defect issues. Our redesign in 2016 focused on removing wood decks and (in select areas) providing new cementitious siding and trim, windows, roofing, and flashings. We also designed new metal entry canopies and guardrails and dramatically modernized the paint design. This emergency repair project showcases how renovations, even on a shoestring budget, can modernize aging properties and improve the environment for low-income communities.

Salazar Architect provided architecture design services. Consultants included: Structural Waterproofing Consultants. O’Neill Construction Group was the General Contractor.
